Training Children’s leaders
How about having Doug run some training at your church?
Equipping and inspiring children’s leaders is vital. Week in, week out, children’s work is hard work and we all need to be challenged, encouraged and re-envisioned from time to time.
These multimedia training sessions are designed to be fun, fast moving, interactive, and inspiring!
Two exciting training sessions are available to choose from. Both are 2 hours
1 “Journeying with children in worship and prayer” – This seminar will not show you how to play the chord of G in 27 new ways! It’s for all children’s workers (musicians and non-musicians) and looks at the culture kids are growing up in, the influences they are exposed to, and how we can take note of these to ensure we stay relevant to our children in our praise and worship. It’s packed full of practical ideas for keeping our kids interest and includes a very practical "How to" section on leading worship. It also looks at using pop music in worship and making quieter songs work using British Sign Language. Dug has found this to be immensely powerful in worship with children (and grown ups!) and you will leave the workshop having learned a sign language song or two!
Dug will talk about "Journeying with children" to help them go deeper with God in prayer and worship and he will share some stories of the kind of things he has seen happen as children connect with God. There will be time at the end of the seminar to pray for the children's workers - he just wants to see them refreshed and encouraged!
Fun, interactive, inspiring and very funky. Expect to enjoy yourself!!
2 “Reaching a Digital Generation”. This seminar takes a look at the world children are growing up in today and the influences they are exposed to in our media saturated society. TV, internet, social media, computer games, peer pressure, schools and home life all have a huge influence on children and the battle is on for their lives. As well as underlining the vital importance of working with children, it also takes a fascinating look at how children were treated and taught in the culture of Jesus’ time and looks at the lessons we can learn from then in our work with children today. Dug will also explore some key Bible verses to do with children and the church, throwing some new light on some well known texts. Packed full of Dug’s own experiences and stories from 17 years working full time with children this seminar will encourage people to see the importance of the work they are doing with children and encourage, inspire and equip them to keep going.
